Wanatah Historical Society Meeting

The Wanatah Historical Society will meet at 10 AM Saturday, Feb 6 at the Town Hall. A representative from Wanatah Primary Care will speak.

Home Decorating Contest Winners

The Wanatah Chamber of Commerce held a silent home decorating contest recently. The committee judged over 200 homes in the area.

Winners in the town included Chuck Woodmaster, Nathan Howell, Brian Wozniak, Raymond Young and Gary Cauley.

Winners in the country included Bob Rosenbaum, Dale Clark and Frank Wheeler.

Carry-out Chicken/Pork Chop Dinner

The Wanatah School PTO is sponsoring a carry-out only chicken/pork chop dinner from 4:30 to 7 PM Friday, Feb 5. The cost is $7 for a chicken dinner or $5 for chicken only. A pork chop dinner is $7.50 or $5.50 for pork chop only.

Wanatah Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner Meeting

The Wanatah Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner Meeting will be Thursday, Feb 11 at the KV REMC Community Room on US Hwy 30 east of town. Registration and social time begins at 6:30 PM with dinner at 7 PM. The cost is $14.50 per person. A short business meeting will be followed by Kathy Leek, a local entertainer.

Chili Supper

Salem United Church of Christ at 302 S. Main St. in Wanatah will host an all-you-can-eat chili supper from 4:30 to 7 PM Feb. 12 in the Fellowship Hall. Proceeds are ear-marked for the supplemental United Pantry, 4 Moore Street in Hanna. A donation of $5 is asked with children 4 and younger eating for free. If you bring a canned food item or a nonperishable item for the panty, you can receive a free dessert.

Super Bowl Party

The Koselke-Mayfield American Legion Post 403 in Wanatah will host a Super Bowl Party Feb. 7. Dinner will be at 4 PM with meat, potatoes and breads provided. Bring a dish to share. The game starts at 5 PM. For information, call Sherrie Devereaux at (219) 733-2832.

Town Council Meeting

The Wanatah Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the town hall. This is open to the public.

Historical Society Meeting Dates Changed

The Wanatah Historical Society has changed the date of its meetings to the first Saturday of the month. The meetings begin at 10 a.m. at the town hall. The society invites anyone interested in the history of the town to attend the meetings.

Meals on Wheels

Volunteer drivers are needed for the Wanatah area Meals on Wheels program. Volunteers must have a reliable car with insurance coverage and be able to give an hour and a half for the program.

Volunteers are in many cases the only person shut-ins will see during the day. Those in the Wanatah area interested in volunteering can call (219) 874-9117.

Mothers' and Fathers' Day out

Faith United Methodist Church hosts a Mothers' and Fathers' Day out from 8 to 11:30 AM on the second Saturday of each month with adult supervision for the children. Games, crafts and snacks are featured. Call (219) 733-2909 for information or to register.

Real Services Meals for Senior Citizens

Real Services Meals for Senior Citizens are served at the Koselke Mayfield American Legion Post in Wanatah Monday through Friday. Any senior citizen age 60 and older is eligible to attend dinner. Please call the legion at (219) 733-2832 by 10 AM to reserve a meal the day before you wish to attend.

Doors open at 10 AM and serving begins around 11:30. A donation of $3 is asked. The meals are nutritionally formulated for a good diet plan. Area seniors are invited to attend. Come and meet your contemporaries and neighbors and enjoy fellowship with them.
