Wanatah offers many opportunities for recreational activities. Being only 30 miles south of the beautiful Lake Michigan Dunes and just a short drive from Chicago, South Bend, and Indianapolis makes Wanatah is a great central starting point for those seeking the recreational advantages of Northwest Indiana.
Two parks are available in town for public use or event rental.
Lion’s Park is located in the southeast corner of town, just adjacent to the school. It features a large, shaded grassy area and walking track along with playground equipment and shelter house. Wm. F. Hunt Memorial Park is located in the northwest corner of town and also offers shaded, grassy picnic areas, playground equipment and a shelter house. It also features a walking bridge over Hawg Creek which runs north and south through the center of town.
